We conducted an in-depth review of a large sample (100) of our employee survey projects. In it, we identified the top issues identified as “key issues in need of improvement” to increase employee engagement. We counted the number of times each issue was identified and ordered the list. The below issues floated to the top of the list.
- Lack of recognition,
- Lack of management integrity,
- Problems with career advancement,
- Management favoritism,
- Corporate politics,
- Pay too low,
- Poor interdepartmental communication.
There were only four instance out of 100 where at least one of these problems was not a critical factor in need of being addressed.
In this section we discuss each of these issues and provide some suggestions on how to address them.
